The Magic of Chanel

The Chanel show is the most magical of the week. Karl Lagerfeld's set designers always construct an awe-inspiring facade in the middle of the Grand Palais, right on the Seine, and excitement actually buzzes through the air.

He casts the best models - Karen Elson, Jourdan Dunn, Sasha Pivovarova - boasts the most impressive front row - Slumdog Millionaire's Freida Pinto, Lily Allen, Kate Moss - and gives the best gift bags - Dragon Red nail polish and Candy Pink lip gloss.

The black and white clothes weren't too bad either. Mid-way through the collection, Lagerfeld tossed green and pink accents onto his neutral tweeds before throwing in all green look on Jessica Stam and head to toe pink knits on model Lara Stone. Plastic covered Chanel bags came stocked with compartments for perfume, lipstick and even an iPod.

After Karl stepped out of a trap door to wave hello at the end, the audience skipped out into the Paris rain assured that all was well in Chanel-land.
